Unseemly Hysteria

“‘twas brillag and the slimy toad....”

makes about as much sense as our current bru ha s begat by pathetic ignorance.

One must laugh to avoid tears.

A pundit saw in a scarf worn by cook Rachel Ray a similarity to a kaffiyeh, a common male head dress in the Middle East. Pundits anonymous decreed it symbolic of terrorists, mentioning that worn by Yassir Arafat, labeled Palestinian.

Actually Arafat was an Egyptian who took up cause Palestinians (to his enormous enrichment - not by Egypt or Palestine).

The kaffiyeh is more commonly associated with the once-upon-a-time honorable Arab legion. It can be any color.

Cook Ray’s scarf resembles not Arab headdress but more nearly a Jewish prayer shawl, black and white with fringes. We doubt the Cook had that in mind.

Now, Dunkin, you who pulled your Ray ad, could you not contribute more to society by launching a campaign to acquaint our population with greater knowledge, rather than caving to this silly hysteria?

Then, more seriously and outrageously, we have the attacks on once President Jimmy Carter, the sole of Christian virtue, the actually undisputed prince of decency. He has taken seriously St. John’s admonition to seek and speak the truth. He has probably never thought a bad, unChristian thought in his life.

Nay,nay! say his critics on speaking the truth on the Middle East. He has been accused of being paid by Arabs (by Money Lovers who cannot imagine doing anything unless it be profitable), being off his meds, bearing some bitterness for Israel and so forth.

None of his critics know or understand the American Christian mindset, but must impose their own way of thinking.

Then we have the ranting clerics of every stripe. Does no one understand that we all have our own convictions and that no one takes these ranters seriously. Kindly cease and desist following them, ye lazy medioso. There are many more important topics in our world today.
