A Fallen Idol

When the Sunday talk show appearance of Gen. Colin Powell was announced and there was so much speculation that he might announce for Sen. Obama, we were prepared for some heartbreak.

Mainstreet's matron felt much sympathy with/for General Powell since he also had had an Anglican communion background and been disappointed with his mother’s burial service.( Our mother had, at least, had a ‘28 Prayer Book burial, but the sadistic priest recruited just for the occasion had thrown in some goddess prayer. He was rewarded by a son of buried lady peeling off his gratuity dollar by dollar.)

We had, therefore, assumed this was the same Anglican raised Colin Powell.

Not so! This Colin Powell was shamelessly pandering to the Obama camp for a place in the administration, a place from which he could continue the diplomatic life he once enjoyed abroad.

We were shocked to hear the new Powell proclaim that poverty was the main source of terrorism!

He clearly knows that this is not so, but as clearly wants to travel endowed with megabucks contributed by the U.S. taxpayers to help the poor.

Just in time for Hallowe’en, our idol has become a ghost.
